Raise a Stein at OB Oktoberfest’s Y2K Weekend at the Beach
OB Oktoberfest has been going strong for over 20 years and somehow keeps getting more unhinged – in the best way. This year, the festival is leaning hard into its 2002 roots with a full Y2K theme: TRL Spring Break energy, neon lights, throwback music, and all the Oktoberfest chaos you’d expect from the wildest beachside Oktoberfest in San Diego. Two days. Two stages. Ten thousand people.

The Year OB Oktoberfest Went Full TRL Spring Break
Starting in 2002 and going Y2K for the 20-plus-year celebration is the kind of idea that only makes sense – and yet, here we are, and it absolutely works. The theme runs through the whole weekend with Y2K-inspired surprises, nostalgic games, and the Y2K After Dark Neon Party Saturday night on the Buzz Cannabis Electronica Stage.
Live music runs on the Jägermeister Main Stage throughout, with DJ sets holding down the Electronica Stage separately. Two stages, zero downtime.

Flashback Friday: Stein Hold, Cash Grabs, and 2-for-1 Beers Until 5
Friday is Flashback Friday Locals Night, and the incentives are real. The Local Legends Stein Hold is happening, cash grab giveaways are on the table, and beers are 2-for-1 until 5 PM. If you’re local and you sleep on this, that’s on you.
Brat-Eating Contest, Bikini Competition, and Neon After Dark – All in One Saturday
Saturday opens with the OB+RL Beach Party from noon to 5 PM – Mr. & Ms. Oktoberfest Bikini Competition, pretzel toss, and a brat-eating contest that will make you question your limits.
Then at 8 PM, the Y2K After Dark Neon Party takes over the Electronica Stage until 10 PM with throwback beats and glowing everything. It’s a full day. Pace yourself.

$20 at the Gate – or Splurge on the OB2K Mug
General admission is $20 at the gate. VIP is $75 and gets you a custom one-liter “OB2K Oktoberfest” mug pre-filled with two beers, access to the Main Stage VIP area and restrooms, and priority re-entry.
And for what it’s worth: OB Oktoberfest has raised $850,000 for the Ocean Beach MainStreet Association and The Peninsula Alliance since day one, with $50,000-plus going back to the community every year. Good party, good cause.

See you there!
Over 20 years in and it’s still the one to be at. Y2K was the era – this is the weekend.
