The Red Nose Run Returns to Del Mar Beach
The Red Nose Run is happening on Del Mar beach with a noon start and finish at Poseidon Restaurant.
Choose your distance – 3K or 5K (distances may be altered depending on beach conditions) – and know that 100% of the event is managed by dedicated volunteers benefiting Semper Fi & America’s Fund and San Dieguito River Park.

What’s Included
Registration gets you food by Poseidon, cold beer from Viewpoint Brewing, ice cream for everyone by Saffron & Rose, and live tunes from Dos Echos.
That’s a full post-run celebration rather than just a finish line and a water bottle. The combination of beach running, good food, local beer, ice cream, and live music creates the kind of atmosphere where people stick around rather than just grabbing their medal and leaving.
The event is family and dog friendly, which makes it accessible for people who want to bring kids or their pets rather than leaving them home. Running on the beach adds a level of difficulty compared to pavement, but it also creates scenic views and a softer surface that’s easier on joints.
33 Years of Community Connection
The Red Nose Run started in 1992 when a local group of runners and walkers of various ages and abilities wanted to connect the San Diego North County community, support charities, and have a really good time doing it.
Thirty-three years later, they’re still doing exactly that – all volunteer-organized, all focused on bringing people together while raising money for causes that matter.
The fact that this has been running for over three decades and has raised over $450,000 for charities shows staying power. When the same event keeps coming back year after year with volunteer organization, it’s because the community values it.
