Race to the Beat at the San Diego Dragon Boat Festival
Mark your calendars for one of San Diego’s most vibrant and energetic cultural events—the 18th Annual San Diego Dragon Boat Festival, hosted by the San Diego Alliance for APIAs.
Taking place on the water and onshore, this community celebration is where adrenaline, tradition, and Pan-Asian pride come together in spectacular style.

On the Water
Feel the rhythm of the drums and the surge of team spirit as 10-paddler teams race in 20-person boats, flying across the water in a thrilling 250-meter competition. Teams will compete in multiple divisions, including:
- Mixed (experienced crews)
- Women’s
- Youth
- Community/Corporate
Whether you’re racing or cheering from the shoreline, the action promises nonstop excitement as boats go head-to-head—up to four at a time—in a pulse-pounding showcase of power, precision, and unity.

On Land
The festival isn’t just about the races—there’s a full cultural celebration happening shoreside. Wander the festival grounds and enjoy:
- Live Pan-Asian cultural performances on stage
- Delicious food vendors offering regional flavors
- Community booths and activities for all ages
Bring your family, your friends, or just your curiosity—this free, all-ages event is open to everyone and offers a one-of-a-kind look at the beauty and diversity of the Asian Pacific Islander American communities in San Diego.
