Vista’s Strawberry Festival is Back and We’re Ready for Berry Season

Downtown Vista transforms into strawberry central this May when the annual Strawberry Festival takes over the streets. If you’ve never been, trust us—this is the kind of local gem that reminds you why we love living here.

A Taste of History

Vista’s strawberry story runs deeper than you might think. Back in the ’60s and ’70s, strawberries grown right here traveled across oceans to dinner tables in Europe and Asia.

The berries were so good that Dutch shoppers started calling all strawberries “Vistas” after seeing our city’s name stamped on shipping crates. Not bad for a North County farm town.

Fun for the Whole Family

The festival itself is free to wander, and you’ll find plenty to keep you busy. Local vendors line the streets selling everything from strawberry jam to fresh berries to creative strawberry-infused treats we didn’t know we needed.

Live music drifts through the crowds while artisans showcase their work at pop-up booths throughout downtown.

Kids can burn off their strawberry-fueled energy in the dedicated Kid Zone (heads up—some activities charge a fee). Adults might find themselves watching the pie-eating contest or checking out the strawberry costume parade. Or just grab a cold drink and people-watch while browsing the vendor stalls.

A Community Celebration

With around 8,000 people expected to show up, parking fills up fast. We usually grab a spot a few blocks away and enjoy the walk through Vista’s neighborhoods.

The whole thing feels like the kind of community gathering that’s getting harder to find these days—unpretentious, genuinely fun, and centered around celebrating something uniquely ours.

See you there!

Let’s raise a strawberry toast to Vista’s vibrant history and the sweet memories we’ll create together.
