Run For A Cause: ‘Aruna 5K Run’ For A Specific Enslaved Women

Aruna 5K Run is hosting its first annual San Diego 5K Run for ‘Their Freedom’ this coming Saturday October 21st.

The goal of the Aruna 5K Run is to raise awareness about the “harsh reality of commercial sexual exploitation in India and generate money to aid in the freedom process.”

The cool part is each Aruna Run participant will run for a specific enslaved women by her name.

“Run for Khushboo. Run for Fathima. Run for Mamja. Run for so many others. Run for Their Freedom.”

Funds raised by Aruna 5K Run will give the enslaved women the choice of freedom through a training center and outreach programs.

However, it doesn’t just stop there!

Each woman is then empowered to reclaim her self-worth, and is employed through the Aruna Freedom Business where she is offered a safe working environment to build a foundation for a better future!

So far, through the Aruna Project, 40 women have been freed since the start of its Freedom Business in January 2015.

With $30 registration fee, you’ll get cool swags like Aruna finish medal and backpack made by women who are now free, empowered, and employed!

For more information, to sign up for the race, purchase a handmade product, or donate, visit www.arunaproject.com.
