There’s a ‘Food Lovers’ Block Party’ Happening in North Park To Celebrate Cross-Border Unity

There’s a pretty cool project that exists right on the border of San Diego and Tijuana.

Roughly translated as “Brotherly Neighborhoods,” the Barrios Hermanos program was launched by a Tijuana-based development group with the mission of connecting the Mexican border city with its neighbor, San Diego (that’s us!).

And they have big reason to do so. There’s a lot of love between these two cities.

Tijuana and San Diego have always been partners in community and business – in fact, they create the fourth largest bi-national marketplace in the world.

While we at There San Diego try to stay out of the crazy world of politics, we are always ready to jump in and promote an opportunity for some much-needed peace in the world.

A ‘Food Lovers’ Block Party’

That’s why we’re all over Barrios Hermanos’ BLVD Market, an outdoor foodie, craft beer, and mingling block party in North Park on Friday, September 15th to celebrate unity (yeah… it doesn’t hurt that it looks like a ridiculously good time)!

Amidst the stress between our governments, Tijuana and San Diego leaders in business, craft beer, art and architecture will be coming together on this night to stand for their good-vibes neighborly relationship.

Cross-Border Beer Flight Release

Attendees to the BLVD Market, held at the intersection of El Cajon Boulevard and Utah Street, will enjoy the first public release “Cross-Border Beer Flight” featuring craft beer from three 30ECB brewers, Pariah Brewing Co., The Homebrewer and Automatic Brewing Company alongside three Tijuana brewers, Cerveceria Insurgente, Cerveza Fauna, and Border Psycho Brewery.

The Cross-Border Beer Flight is a collaboration between Telefonica Gastro Park and El Cajon Boulevard BIA, Barrios Hermanos partners seeking to developing stronger business relationships across the border.

Live Music & Featured Artists

Bilingual, immigrant rock band Karina Frost and her Banduvians will perform live amongst expositions by Border-region artist David Peña, Tijuana Zine Fest artists, Tijuana architecture university Escuela Libre De Architectura.

If the relationship between San Diego and Tijuana means something to you, then come on out for this awesome night of food, drinks, mixin’ and minglin’ – all in support of keeping the good vibes flowing between these “barrios hermanos.”

See you there!
