The Westgate Hotel To Host Summer Of Southern California’s Best Jazz Artists

Soak up the summer in true downtown style with The Westgate Hotel‘s poolside jazz series. Every Thursday, The Westgate host some of Southern California’s best jazz artists for an eclectic evening of jazz. Join us as we serve an array of signature cocktails, craft beers, wine, tapas and appetizers on our stunning pool deck overlooking the beautiful downtown San Diegan skyline.

Below is the current schedule of performances. Please note there will be no show on Thursday, July 18, due to San Diego Comic-Con.

June 13th – Joshua White Trio

Led by San Diego’s nationally acclaimed jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader, Joshua White, the Joshua White Trio will entertain with its innovative and expressive style of jazz that has captured audiences everywhere.

June 20th -Dennis Gittens

Local accomplished vocalist, Dennis Gittens, displays his exceptional musical skills with sweet, soulful jazz.

June 27th – Coral Macfarland Thuet

With the ability to sing in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, Thuet mesmerizes with her repertoire that combines jazz and the music of Latin America.

July 4th – Ian Buss Trio

An accomplished saxophonist, composer/arranger and music educator, Ian Buss and his trio will provide a night of dazzling jazz and showmanship.

July 11th – Matt Hall Quartet

It will be an evening of rich sounds and cool vibes with the Matt Hall Quartet, featuring Hall (trombone), Irving Flores (piano), Mackenzie Leighton (upright bass), and Charles Weller (drums).

July 25th – Steph Johnson Band

Award Winning, original soul-jazz vocalist, guitarist, and composer, Steph Johnson shares her soulful and unique voice, backed by her all-star band.

August 1st – Robert Dove Trio

Dove and his fellow musicians weave together a variety of musical configurations that create a blissful, soothing experience.

August 8th – Holly Hofmann Trio

Flutist Holly Hofmann has made the flute a front-line instrument from classical music to jazz and is one of the most authoritative and swinging flutists in jazz today.

August 15th – Lorraine Castellanos Trio

Jazz chantress and classical guitarist, Lorraine Castellanos shares her intense passion for music with her perceptive phrasing and tone, both as an instrumentalist and vocalist.

August 22nd – Irving Flores

Accomplished pianist, composer, and arranger, Flores is a Latin music giant who has performed with Bill Watrous, Charles McPherson, Abraham Laboriel, Poncho Sanchez, and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra.

August 29th – Gilbert Castellanos Quartet

Gilbert Castellanos, master trumpeter and bandleader, has established himself as one of the nation’s most inventive improvisers who is skilled with impressive dexterity and control.

September 5th – Besos De Coco

Latin/classical/jazz duo Besos de Coco melds the austerity and grace of classical music, the improvisation, and spontaneity of jazz, the appeal of pop, and the liveliness of hot rhythm and tap dancing.

September 12th – Curtis Taylor

Grammy Award winning trumpeter Cutis Taylor creates a unique blend of soulfulness, harmonic sensibilities and rhythm that melt together for an unforgettable sound that directly connects with the soul of the listener.
