Sword Fights, Sunken Ships, and San Diego Bay: All Aboard the Pirate Adventure

There’s something undeniably fun about stepping onto a historic tall ship and immediately getting conscripted into a pirate crew. That’s exactly what happens at Boarded! A New Pirate Adventure – a 90-minute interactive pirate cruise on San Diego Bay that’s unlike anything else on the waterfront.

Boarded! A New Pirate Adventure

You’re Not Just Watching – You’re in it

From the moment you board, you’re part of the crew. A cutthroat captain and his charming (but very treacherous) crew press you into service and put you to work. That means learning to navigate, swab the deck, sword fight, bail water from a sinking ship, escape from the King’s Jail, and track down lost treasure – all while sailing out on the bay.

The whole thing plays out aboard one of the Maritime Museum’s historic vessels, either the San Salvador (a stunning replica 16th-century Spanish galleon) or the schooner Californian, depending on availability that day.

90 Minutes of Pure Chaos (the Good Kind)

The cast stays in character the entire time, and the interaction is what makes it work. This isn’t a show you sit back and passively watch – it pulls everyone in, from the youngest pirates in training to the adults who came in skeptical and left completely converted.

One recent fan put it best: “This scalawag crew was fantastic! All stayed in character throughout and there was a lot of interaction. Super entertaining for all ages.”

Good to Know Before You Go

Recommended for ages five and up, it’s the kind of outing that works equally well for families with kids, groups of friends looking for something a little different, or anyone who just wants an afternoon that’s a little outside the ordinary.

One thing worth knowing if you’re bringing little ones: the show includes simulated gunfire. It’s all part of the drama, but if your child is sensitive to loud sounds, pack some earplugs just in case.

San Diego Bay as Your Backdrop

Sailing out on the bay with the city skyline as your backdrop, while getting thoroughly swept up in pirate theatrics, is a combination that doesn’t come around often.

San Diego Pirate Adventures is the only pirate-themed entertainment company in the city, and they’ve clearly put the work into building something genuinely original and interactive.

See you there!
