The Breeders’ Cup Takes Over Del Mar This Weekend

(Photo by Alex Evers/Eclipse Sportswire/Breeders Cup)

The Breeders’ Cup has officially taken over Del Mar!

If you’re into horse racing, this is apparently a really big deal – “a two-day, $28 million extravaganza attracting the best horses, trainers, and owners from across the globe.”

But if you’re into horse racing, I probably didn’t need to tell you that.

If you’re one of the rest of us, the Breeder’s Cup means something else…

PARTIES!

Yes, the horse racing community likes to dress up and tie one on, and we’re always supportive of that!

Here is a list of events listed on the Del Mar Village website, but we expect the whole area to be really busy and a lot of fun.

If you just want to hop around and check out the scene, I’d recommend:

Del Mar Plaza for the ‘Breeders Cup After Hours Lounge’, outdoor drinks and bites, and a pretty view of the water

L’Auberge if you want to be fancy

Red Tractons for the old school, Rat Pack-era feel, great steaks and stiff drinks

ViewPoint Brewing for beautiful views and walking distance to the track

The Pony Room at Rancho Valencia…because it’s the best bar in the area and I’m sure will be hopping with the jet-set racing crowd

Jimmy O’s for the late night party crowd that wants to let loose…you know who you are!

I don’t think you can go wrong…it’s going to be a fun weekend in Del Mar!

See you there!
