Carruth Cellars Debuts 12,000 Square-Foot Liberty Station Wine Garden
San Diego’s largest urban winery, Carruth Cellars, is now pouring its award-winning, bold California-style wines at a new Liberty Station Wine Garden. The 12,000 square-foot indoor/outdoor tasting room is located within the historic ARTS DISTRICT, along the North Promenade, near Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens, Liberty Station Public Market, and Con Pane Rustic Breads & Café.
Carruth Cellars “Bringing Grapes to the People”
Carruth Cellars has been “bringing the grapes to the people,” sourcing grapes from the country (California’s North Coast appellations) and making wine by the beach, for over a decade. With three tasting rooms in North County San Diego (Solana Beach, Carlsbad, and Oceanside at HANGAR76), the ARTS DISTRICT location was to be the winery’s fifth, but will now absorb Little Italy Wine Garden operations, due to being unable to extend the lease agreement after five years in the Kettner Blvd. space.
The expansive new Carruth Cellars Arts District Wine Garden location is poised to welcome Carruth’s growing community, with two large patios shaded by mature trees, perfect for sipping the winery’s award-winning wines by the flight, glass, and bottle. An enhanced menu includes shareable appetizers (such as Venetian-inspired cichetti) and desserts, in addition to the winery’s signature housemade paninis, salads, and build-your-own cheese and charcuterie boards.
Inside, guests will discover a copper-topped wine bar, artisanal cheese counter retailing a gourmet selection by-the-pound from around the world (also available for take-out), plus a marketplace showcasing a curated assortment of specialty pantry goods, from olive oils and tapenades to preserves and salami. Wine lovers will also be able to reserve a private seated tasting experience, a 90-minute tasting of five wines led by a knowledgeable Carruth host.
In keeping with the Wine Garden’s location in the ARTS DISTRICT, a hub for growth, innovation, and inspiration promoting connection, creativity and community, the live music program will be expanded and there are plans for partnerships with nearby local artists and makers, to coincide with Carruth’s monthly bottle releases.
Carruth Cellars Arts District Wine Garden is accepting new wine club members at the new Liberty Station Wine Garden. A monthly subscription ($55/month) includes a bottle of wine, exclusive discounts, and complimentary weekly tastings. Benefits can be enhanced with an upgrade to the “Love Club” ($35/month) for additional perks, including a bottle of wine, discounts, and tastings.
