San Diego Rodeo Returns to Petco Park for Year Three
The San Diego Rodeo is back at Petco Park for its third year, and if you’ve been before, you know this is way more than just watching cowboys ride bulls.
It’s a full three-day event with top rodeo athletes competing for over $500,000 in prize money, plus nightly after-parties in Gallagher Square featuring some seriously good live music.

World-Class Rodeo Competition
Athletes from around the world are coming to San Diego to compete across all the classic rodeo events – bull riding, barrel racing, bronc riding, and more. The competition is legitimate, and watching these riders up close in a stadium setting hits differently than a traditional rodeo arena.
There’s something about being at Petco Park that makes the whole experience feel bigger and more electric.

Three Nights of Live Music
After the rodeo wraps each night, Gallagher Square turns into an amazing concert setup in the city. Friday brings Texan maverick Charley Crockett, Saturday features outlaw country icon Jamey Johnson, and Sunday closes out with heavyweight headliner Cody Jinks.
If you’re into country and Americana, this lineup is stacked. And even if you’re just rodeo-curious, the music alone is worth showing up for.

Family-Friendly Weekend in the Gaslamp
The whole event is designed to be family-friendly, so you can bring the kids without worrying about it being too rowdy (until the after-parties kick off, obviously).
Being at Petco Park also means you’re right in the heart of downtown, so it’s easy to make a full day or weekend out of it – grab food in the Gaslamp before or after, hit up some bars if you’re staying late, or just soak up the scene.
A Growing San Diego Tradition
Three years in, the San Diego Rodeo is becoming one of those annual events that people actually plan around. It’s unique, it’s entertaining, and it gives us a chance to experience rodeo culture without leaving the city.
Whether you’re a rodeo regular or you’ve never been to one before, this is an accessible way to see what all the fuss is about.
