A protégé of Quincy Jones, Alfredo Rodríguez was schooled in the rigorous classical conservatories of Havana. Pedrito Martinez, on the other hand, had his musical training directly from the streets of the Cayo Hueso neighborhood of Old Havana, where he was raised.
