Spend a Saturday Night With Earth, Wind & Fire at the Civic Theatre
There are songs, and then there are songs that show up at every wedding reception, every backyard party, and every road trip playlist your friends have ever built. Earth, Wind & Fire wrote a whole stack of them, and they are bringing that catalog to the San Diego Civic Theatre.

A Band Named From Maurice White’s Astrological Chart
Maurice White started the group in 1969 and pulled the name straight out of the elements in his own astrological chart. What grew from that is one of the deepest catalogs in American music: 23 albums, eight number one hits, and more than 100 million records sold worldwide.
Eight of those albums went Double Platinum and landed in the Top 10, which puts Earth, Wind & Fire among the best-selling artists of all time. The horns, the harmonies, the grooves built to outlast whatever else was on the radio that year.
Nine GRAMMYs, the Rock Hall, and a Kennedy Center Honor
The trophy case backs up the catalog. Earth, Wind & Fire have won nine GRAMMY Awards, including one for Lifetime Achievement in 2012, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.
In 2019, Washington added the Kennedy Center Honors for their contributions to arts and culture. That is about the highest formal recognition American culture hands out, and it went to a group most people first encountered while dancing.

From “Reasons” to “Let’s Groove” in One Sitting
This is a catalog that covers a lot of emotional ground in a single night. “Let’s Groove” is pure floor-filler, “September” is the one everybody in the room already knows by heart, and “Reasons” slows the whole thing down and holds it there.
Expect a crowd that spans a few generations, because these songs have been getting passed down since Maurice White put the band together. Bring your parents. Bring the friend who claims they do not dance.
See you there!
Nine GRAMMYs, 23 albums, and one Saturday night downtown where everyone in the room knows every word. Bring the friend who always requests “September.”
