Encinitas Turkey Trot Gobbles Along Coast Hwy 101 Thanksgiving Morning

The annual Encinitas Turkey Trot is set to invade Encinitas on Thanksgiving morning!

A family tradition, the race is both an athletic event, while also an expression of gratitude. Thousands of local families and tourists alike will start the Thanksgiving holiday with a fun and healthful cruise along the coast, with views that only Encinitas can provide.

Miles of ocean views

The course starts and finishes under the famous “Encinitas” sign on the historic Coast Hwy 101. This scenic loop turns around at the famous “Cardiff Kook” statue, then rises above some of the most popular surf breaks in the world with miles of ocean views.

This year’s event will support Veterans Association of North Country (VANC), a non-profit actively supporting military personnel and families after service, and their holiday efforts to provide Christmas dinner and holiday gifts for hundreds of active-duty families from Camp Pendleton.

The Turkey Trot will also provide grants to Boy Scouts of America – Encinitas Troop 776 and Cardiff School District.

The costume contest

The costume contest is one of the most entertaining aspects of the event. Prizes will be awarded to the top three participants who best display the spirit of Thanksgiving. Costume contest participants need to register at the Costume Contest Registration table prior to 7AM. The costume award ceremony will immediately follow the 10K race. Prizes are as follows:

1st place | $250
2nd place | $150
3rd place | $100

The 10K race starts at 7:30AM, while the 5K starts at 8AM. Kids K will start in between 7:40AM.
