Beer Lover’s Guide to Oktoberfest

Take the guesswork out of your game plan and utilize our Beer Lover’s Ultimate Guide To Oktoberfest. All you need to get started is your valid 21+ ID and a $5 Biergarten Pass that grants you access to all three of the distinct beverage experiences we are offering at this year’s Fest. Bringing the family for a weekend of fun? Those 21 and under get access free of charge. Want to go VIP? We have you covered from custom steins to alpine hats with VIP options starting at just $10!

#1: The Hofbrauhaus Biergarten

Entrance at La Mesa Blvd. between 3rd & Palm Ave.

The Hofbrauhaus Biergarten, sponsored by Pete’s Place, is the focal point of this beloved La Mesa tradition. Consider this the starting point and the hub of your La Mesa Oktoberfest journey. Here you’ll be immediately immersed in La Mesa’s Munich with Oompa bands, German food, and free contests for everything from yodeling to brat-eating.

This is the most traditional of our three Biergarten experiences and is also a great place for those with kinder in-tow as we have plenty of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. The Hofbrauhaus Biergarten is also the hub for Hofbrauhaus VIP Passholders to claim their commemorative steins, chicken hats, flower garlands, and most importantly – their wristbands and Bier Tickets!

Insider Tips:

This is the only bar that supports touchless mobile ordering!

Don’t miss the Opening Ceremony on Friday, October 1st at 6PM. Just trust us.

Serving Up Brews From Spaten, Franziskaner Weissbier, Goose Island Beer Co., 10 Barrel Brewing Co, Elysian, Stella Artois, Bon & Viv Spiked Seltzer, and Babe Rosé with Bubbles.

#2 The Palm Avenue Bier Hall

Entrance at La Mesa Blvd. & Lemon Ave.

Once you’ve completely rocked at least two chicken dances and competed in one yodeling competition, wander down the vendor-lined streets to the next stop on our stein-clinking extravaganza: The Palm Avenue Bier Hall, sponsored by Amethyst Moon. Our most loved addition from 2019’s fest makes a triumphant return and offers a place of respite where you can take a seat at our shaded long tables and be served by our incredible festively adorned Biermaidens!

This tavern experience is also home to our weekend football lineup for any fans that can’t miss the big game. This is a perfect mid-point stop on your La Mesa Oktoberfest beer journey where you can enjoy flowing pints and food delivered directly to your table along with a host of games and music throughout the weekend.

Insider tips:

Seating is first-come, first-served! This bar only accepts card payments. Keep your cash on hand for the other bars (or some of our 150+ vendors!)
Pretzel eating competitions and our Ultimate Beer Lover’s Guide go hand in hand – so don’t miss your chance to carbo-load at this Bier Hall throughout the weekend. Pssst…Sign-ups are free!

Serving Up Brews From Spaten, Franziskaner Weissbier, Elysian, Stella Artois, Bon & Viv Spiked Seltzer, and Babe Rosé with Bubbles.

#3 The Craft Bier & Seltzer Garten

Entrance at La Mesa Blvd. & 3rd Ave.

After a long day of working out your lederhosen, lounge around and chicken-watch at the third stop on our unofficial Bier Crawl: The Craft Bier & Seltzer Garten, sponsored by Curbside Eatery & Drinkery. This is where we like to come to enjoy craft beer and cocktails, take a break from the Will Power Community Fitness Oktoberfest Games and the Dackeldorf Village games, and relax with laid back Cali-chill atmosphere, oversized board games, and DJ sets throughout the weekend. The vibe is different here, but in a great way you just need to experience to understand.

Insider tips:

This is a great place to escape the Oompa and just enjoy a traditional San Diego craft beer experience. Serving up brews from Elysian Brewing, Breckenridge Brewery, and Golden Road Brewing

There’s a libation to satisfy the taste of every Mann or Frau at this year’s festival! While drinking a copper-red Bavarian Märzen is tradition in Germany, the La Mesa Oktoberfest features traditional beers as well as more creative concoctions for those inclined. Vino-lovers won’t be forgotten with a selection of wines at all our gartens. There’s so much more to do at La Mesa Oktoberfest than sip on steins filled with frosty cold, freshly tapped beer – but it’s not a bad place to start your festivities!

For those wanting to take their festivities to the next level, go VIP! Upgrade your Oktoberfest experience with one of our Hofbrauhaus Biergarten VIP Passes ranging from $10 to $45 and include VIP entry, (2) biers, VIP restrooms, a chicken hat, flower garland or alpine hat, commemorative stein & more! Kids packages are also available for purchase and range from $5 to $25 and include VIP entry, (2) sodas or water, a chicken hat, flower garland or alpine hat & more!
