Foundation For Women to Host Free Screening of “The Hello Girls” Documentary
In honor of Women’s History Month, San Diego‘s Foundation for Women Warriors invites you to a special online screening of The Hello Girls documentary. This powerful film tells the extraordinary story of America’s first female soldiers, whose service in World War I changed history—but was nearly forgotten.

The Story of The Hello Girls
Featuring rare 100-year-old film footage from the National Archives and never-before-seen family photos, The Hello Girls follows the 223 women of the U.S. Army Signal Corps who were sent to France in 1918 as telephone operators.
Sworn into service, wearing Army uniforms, and holding rank, these women played a critical role in securing victory, connecting over 26 million calls under wartime conditions.
Despite their dedication, they were denied recognition as soldiers when they returned home, launching a 60-year battle for their rightful status, which they finally won in 1977—though only a handful were still alive to see justice served.
