Swing Into a Sunday Night With Jeff Goldblum at The Rady Shell

Jeff Goldblum has been leading a jazz band for 30 years, which is still the part of his résumé that surprises people. Now, he brings it to the bay with the San Diego Symphony behind him.

From Jurassic Park to the Piano Bench

Goldblum’s acting career runs nearly six decades, most recently as The Wizard opposite Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in Wicked and Wicked: For Good. Before that: The Big Chill, The Fly, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Independence Day, Jurassic Park, and Thor: Ragnarok.

He has an Oscar nomination for directing the short Little Surprises, Emmy nods for Will & Grace and his National Geographic series The World According to Jeff Goldblum, and Broadway runs in The Pillowman and Domesticated. Netflix’s KAOS is the latest.

JEFF GOLDBLUM & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra The Night Blooms World Tour!

Thirty Years of the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra

The band started three decades ago and has been touring the US and the rest of the world ever since, playing contemporary arrangements of classic jazz and American Songbook standards. This is not a side project someone talked him into.

Four albums with Decca have pulled in guests like Gregory Porter, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Fiona Apple, Freda Payne, Haley Reinhart, Imelda May, and Maiya Sykes. The fourth, Still Blooming, debuted at #1 on the Official Jazz & Blues Albums Chart and #10 on the UK Official Albums Chart in 2025.

Its companion record, Night Blooms, arrived June 5 on Universal’s relaunched Fontana label, with Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Charlie Puth, dodie, Scarlett Johansson, and Melody Gardot along for it.

One Night on the Bay, Symphony Included

This stop on the Night Blooms World Tour puts Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra in front of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, with Stuart Chafetz conducting. Doors to a summer evening on the downtown waterfront, essentially.

The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park sits right on the water, so the sunset does a fair amount of the work before the first note.

See you there!

Sunday nights do not usually come with a jazz band, a symphony, and a Hollywood leading man in one place. This one does. See you on the bay.
