Kinfolk Fest is Back – and San Diego’s Ready to Celebrate
Every June, San Diego’s Waterfront Park transforms into something special. Kinfolk Fest, organized by SD Melanin, is the city’s largest Juneteenth celebration – a full-day festival where music, food, art, and community come together in a way that genuinely feels like the best family reunion you’ve ever been to.
Now heading into its 2026 edition, this is one of those events that keeps growing because people keep coming back.

A Lineup Worth Showing Up For
The stage at Kinfolk Fest hits different. The 2026 music lineup spans R&B, Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, and Neo-Soul, with performances from Ainjo, KITANA, NURD, Nicole Hernandez, Birdy Bird, Bar1ne, Cowbell Chris, Deleon.nox, UrbanRoyalty, and more. Whether you’re front and center dancing it out or hanging back with a drink, the energy carries all day long.
100+ Black-Owned Businesses to Explore
One of the best parts of Kinfolk Fest is the marketplace. With more than 100 Black-owned vendors on-site, there’s no shortage of things to discover – apparel, beauty products, artwork, wellness goods, home items, and handcrafted pieces you won’t find anywhere else.
It’s the kind of shopping experience that actually feels good, because every purchase goes directly back into the community.

Eat, Drink, and Take it All In
The food situation at Kinfolk Fest is solid. Local vendors bring cultural favorites alongside contemporary dishes, and with a full bar and cocktails on offer, you’re set for a long, easy afternoon on the waterfront. Few things beat eating good food with the bay as your backdrop.
More Than Just Music and Food
Beyond the stage and the marketplace, Kinfolk Fest fills the day with art activations, photo moments, community games, and one of the more popular side events – the Spades Tournament. There are plenty of spots to connect with people, whether you’re there with your whole crew or rolling solo.

What Juneteenth Looks Like Here
Kinfolk Fest is built around something real. SD Melanin created this event to celebrate Black culture, creativity, and economic empowerment – and that intention shows in every corner of the festival. It’s joyful and social, but it also carries meaning. Showing up is its own kind of participation in something that matters to this city.
