Kona Kai’s First-Ever Clambake Brings Retro Coastal Vibes to Shelter Island
Get ready for coastal flavors, retro vibes, and a brand new San Diego tradition—Kona Kai’s first-annual Beach Bake & Shake is bringing all the fun of a New England clambake to the shores of Shelter Island.
Set on the resort’s private beach, this festive feast features a family-style seafood spread curated by Executive Chef Ethan Brown—think raw oysters, lobster, poached shrimp, baked mussels and clams, crab cakes, elote corn, herb-roasted potatoes, and more.
With live music, a Sunset Shake Down hula hoop contest, and vintage California flair, it’s the perfect way to soak in golden hour by the bay.

Seafood, Sand, and Sunset Fun
It’s all happening beachside with cornhole, retro games, and good vibes under the palms. Dig into the culinary spread while grooving to live tunes and joining in on family-friendly contests. Kids under 12 are welcome—making it a laid-back evening the whole crew can enjoy.
Beachside Bites That Give Back
Even better? A portion of all proceeds supports the Surfrider Foundation, helping protect our coastlines for future clambakes to come.
