La Jolla’s 4th of July Drone Show Doubles in Size for 2025

La Jolla’s 4th of July drone show is coming back for its third year, and they’re literally doubling down on what made the first two years so successful.

The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club and LJ STEAM Foundation are expanding from their previous setup to 500 synchronized drones, creating what promises to be an even more spectacular alternative to traditional fireworks.

What Makes This Special

The display represents exactly the kind of innovation that fits La Jolla’s forward-thinking, environmentally conscious community.

Instead of the noise and environmental impact of fireworks, 500 drones will choreograph a display 350 feet above the shoreline, synchronized to patriotic music that captures all the spectacle without any of the drawbacks.

The primary viewing area at the south end of Kellogg Park offers great sightlines, while additional vantage points throughout the beach and park areas near La Jolla Shores Hotel and La Jolla Cove mean you can find a spot that works for your group.

Community Support Needed

What’s impressive about this event is that it remains free for everyone to enjoy, but that means it relies entirely on community support and donations. The LJ STEAM Foundation, which advances Science, Technology, Education, Arts, and Music in La Jolla, handles the funding through tax-deductible contributions.

William “Bill” J. Kellogg, President of the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, mentioned that last year’s success came from community generosity, and they’re hoping to build on that same spirit to keep the tradition alive. Given that they’re doubling the number of drones, the funding needs are obviously increasing along with the spectacle.

The Viewing Experience

For those who want to make it a special evening, the Acapulco Room and Deck upstairs at La Jolla Shores Hotel offers an exclusive viewing area for a private party experience. It’s the kind of upgrade that makes sense for celebrating Independence Day in one of San Diego’s most beautiful coastal locations.

The combination of cutting-edge drone technology, stunning coastline, and patriotic celebration creates something uniquely San Diego – innovative, environmentally responsible, and absolutely gorgeous.

How to Help

Supporting the show is straightforward: tax-deductible contributions can be made online at ljsteam.org or by mailing checks to the LJ STEAM Foundation at 7742 Herschel Avenue, Suite L, La Jolla, CA 92037. Donations should be designated for the 4th of July Drone Show fund.

See you there!

La Jolla’s 4th of July drone show represents the perfect blend of technology, community spirit, and environmental responsibility that makes this celebration something truly special. Ready to witness 500 drones create magic above La Jolla’s shoreline? This expanded show promises to be our most spectacular 4th yet.
