San Diego’s only accredited big cat and bear sanctuary, Lion Tigers & Bears, is welcoming friends, neighbors and longtime supporters to its Wild in the Country Gala at Lions Tigers & Bears in Alpine, CA.

“Denim and Diamonds”

To celebrate its 20th year as an accredited exotic animal sanctuary – that is home to 65+ abused and abandoned animals and has coordinated the rescue of more than 1,000 exotic animals over the years – the celebration will be “Denim and Diamonds” themed and feature entertainment from special guest hosts, Jagger and Kristi, of Magic 92.5 radio station and a live performance featuring world class Las Vegas showman, “Neil Diamond – The Tribute starring Rob Garrett.”

In the past two years, wildfire evacuations, COVID-19 closures and supply chain setbacks affected the sanctuary’s ability to fundraise and build new habitats. The upcoming gala is the sanctuary’s most impactful fundraiser, and all proceeds from ticket sales, the live auction and the silent auction will benefit the sanctuary’s 65+ exotic and ranch animal residents, providing food, enrichment, habitat maintenance, veterinary care and the opportunity to rescue even more big cats and bears in need.

“This gala is our largest fundraiser, and after two years, it’s an important opportunity to raise funds so we can continue being a safe haven for abandoned and abused animals,” said Bobbi Brink, Lions Tigers & Bears Founder and Director. “We’re the voice for these animals, and it’s our greatest passion doing this work. We’re welcoming animal lovers to an evening with our majestic, wild residents to learn about the care, rescue and advocacy work we do.”

An educational opportunity and a chance to support

The gala also serves as an educational opportunity, inviting the public to learn how to support reputable animal sanctuaries, advocacy protecting wildlife and cracking down on the exotic animal trade – a $20 billion industry following drugs, counterfeiting and human trafficking in the United States. Through advocacy and public awareness, the tides are steadily turning in favor of protecting animals suffering in captivity as money-making objects, languishing in substandard conditions and deprived of the most basic care.

Lions Tigers & Bears has positioned itself at the forefront of these efforts, collaborating with state officials, law enforcement and leadership professionals from other accredited sanctuaries across the country to enact legislation and affect change on a national level.
