If you’ve been to Little Italy over the last couple of weekends, you already know the impact that Piazza Della Famiglia is having as a central gathering place for the community – the piazza has been packed and full of energy. It reflects the European lifestyle of coming together in public spaces—to eat, drink, people watch, interact with friends and relax after shopping- that we need much more of in U.S. cities.

With the opening of the Little Italy Food Hall at the beginning of July, residents and visitors can now enjoy beer, wine and food from any of the six food stations and bar in the Little Italy Food Hall in the 10,000-square-foot open space—officially activating the Piazza della Famiglia as it was intended to be.

The dedication will include a ribbon cutting, commencement words from state and local dignitaries and leaders behind the project, and a reception featuring small bites by Little Italy Food Hall and refreshments.

Assemblymember Todd Gloria; Mayor Kevin Faulconer; Councilmember Chris Ward; Little Italy Association Chief Executive Administrator, Marco Li Mandri; Assistant Chief Operating Officer of the City of San Diego, Stacey LoMedico and others will each speak on behalf of the project.

The Little Italy Association will continue to produce weekly activations year-round in the Piazza della Famiglia, including:

And a whole lot more, of course.

See you there and don’t forget to bring the whole family and friends!
