This year Jodie & Jade (Co founders & best friends originally from England) have switched things up a little by creating an evening Holiday market complete with Santa and his surfing band, and vendors on the North Promenade.

Free Concert Included!

As part of Arts District First Friday’s ((amplified)) partnership, the event this year will include a free live concert inside Building 177 with local Blues singer Whitney Shay & the hall will come to life with local makers & a bar by Bubblesandbrewsocal with their cute Vintage Piaggio Ape named Harlowe.

There will be beer, wine & of course every San Diegan’s favorite hard Kombucha June Shine for $5 a drink with all proceeds being donated to support the Arts District Liberty Station.

“The concert on December 6 will feature Whitney Shay and Lauren Leigh. The headliners for all shows were chosen specifically because they’re artists who have long had a presence in the region and help shape the local music scene. We wanted to include local bands who have roots in San Diego and have helped build a vibrant culture here.” – Andrew Waltz.

Lots of Local Favorites!

From The Local Bazaar expect to find local favorite Sugar Mamma with her all natural caramel’s available in 17 flavors & her pop up smores bar. Nancy recently won another award the “Favorite Desserts in San Diego” in the SD Best Union Tribune contest along with selling in many of San Diego’s finest locations.

“Since the beginning our dream was to create the feel & vibe of an outdoor European Holiday market with hot cocoa, local makers & food so this collaboration with the Arts District is the perfect scenario. With the Rady Children’s Ice rink, Christmas tree & always popular Liberty Public Market & such a great mix of restaurants close by.” Co Founder of The Local Bazaar – Jodie Alonso

Highlighting the Artists and Makers of San Diego

“When we started in 2009, the ARTS DISTRICT had seven completed buildings. Years later we’ve grown to 45 renovated buildings filled with over 120 art galleries, artist studios, museums, cafés, a food market and much more. Over the past 10+ years, each month we produce FIRST FRIDAY ARTS DISTRICT – San Diego’s largest monthly art walk event highlighting innovative performances and local visual artists. This past year we partnered with The Local Bazaar and Beer Food Music to add a new amplified concert and pop-up creative market. One thing we’re always looking to do is liven up the campus. Working with The Local Bazaar has helped amplify our efforts to provide even more creative and cultural innovative experiences for our guests.” – Arts District, Associate Director of Programs – Andrew Waltz

Something for Everyone

The expanded footprint of this year’s Holiday Bazaar means there is truly something for everyone!

On Luce Court right next to the Rady Children Ice Skating rink expect to find local jewelry makers such as Kai & Skye & The Akazi Project & local artists such as Marea Baja Designs & Wood & Wire Studio.

In Barracks 17 bring the kiddos for a very special Holiday story time read by Lindsey owner & curator of Tiny Tents Co. where there will be tiny tents & cozy blankets set up for your little ones to take a rest after the excitement of seeing Santa!

There will also be Arts District resident artists mixed in with some of San Diego’s finest makers such as In Succulent Love offering free make & takes & local We Are Andrex handcrafted jewelry by local San Diego twin sisters.

Finally, on the North Promenade warm up with hot cocoa from Hey Sugar Cookies sweet vintage trailer café & come meet the big man himself with a free photo op with Santa.

There will be even more makers lining the pathway so you can shop all while listening to Santa & his surfing band play live.

And don’t forget the great beer and food at the Public Market!

“My goal is that people come to the event with the idea in mind that this is an art and culture center for San Diego. I also really hope that people either come early or stay late with the expectation of experiencing the arts.” Andrew Waltz

“Our goal is to support all of the amazing local makers in San Diego & give them an amazing location to sell & promote their businesses. There is so much talent here & we thrive on supporting the local economy.” – Jodie Alonso
