Friday Nights at The Nat Just Got Better

If Friday nights have been feeling a little predictable lately, the San Diego Natural History Museum has something worth checking out. Nat at Night is going weekly, and it’s exactly the kind of after-hours experience that reminds us why living in this city is so good.

Nat at Night

The Museum Is All Yours

Every Friday, The Nat opens its doors late – giving us a full evening to wander five floors of exhibits at a pace that lets you take it all in. Admission drops to half price later in the evening, so it’s an easy yes. Grab tickets in advance online or pick them up at the door. Members of The Nat and Explorer Pass holders get in free, as always.

Right now, the lineup includes the brand-new Amazement in the Basement exhibition, where you can watch scientists at work in the new Paleo Center.

Beyond that, all the classics are fair game. Take a selfie with a megalodon shark, check out a live ant colony, admire some glittering gems, and find animal skulls in every imaginable size. Just a heads up: Level 4 and parts of Level 3 are temporarily off view while construction wraps up.

Nat at Night

Drinks, Bites, and Tacos

Head up to the rooftop deck for open-air drinks and good company. Wolf in the Woods. The award-winning Mission Hills restaurant known for its regional, seasonal approach brings a curated small bites menu to the evening. Pair that with a beer, a glass of wine, or a non-alcoholic option, and you’re set.

Bar setups on several floors mean we can keep sipping while we explore, and down in the Atrium, The Craft Taco serves made-to-order tacos on signature blue corn tortillas, alongside burritos, bowls, pastries, and coffee drinks. Grab a concha or a paleta and keep moving.

Get Crafty With Sketchparty

On select Fridays – usually the third Friday of the month – Sketchparty SD joins the evening with a live drawing activity. It’s low-key, surprisingly fun, and a solid reason to plan around a specific date. Keep an eye on the schedule to catch it.

See you there!

Nat at Night is one of those local rituals worth folding into the regular rotation. Good food, solid drinks, cool science, and a rooftop view to wrap it all up.
