Nat Talk: A Conversation With Rachel Ignotofsky – Women In Science
Women throughout history have contributed greatly to science, mathematics, and engineering, but have not always received the recognition they deserve. Author and illustrator, Rachel Ignotofsky, returns to The Nat to showcase one of her creations, Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World, celebrating women’s accomplishments and introducing new female role models to boys and girls.
In a short lecture, Rachel will share little known stories of amazing female scientists and how they significantly changed their fields, in spite of considerable prejudices. She looks at the statistics showing the gender gap in STEM fields today, explaining how representation and narratives can empower young women to follow their passions.
Rachel also uses unique and whimsical illustration styles to make dense information fun and accessible for her bestselling books. After the talk, Rachel will hold an informal Q&A about her favorite scientists, the book-writing process, and feminism in STEM. She will also sign copies of her book, available for purchase in the Museum store.
See you there!
