Ocean Beach Oktoberfest’s 20th Anniversary Set For October 7-8
Ocean Beach Oktoberfest 2022 is going to be a celebration to remember. This annual event is set for October 7 to 8 in Ocean Beach where Newport meets the beach.

Ocean Beach Oktoberfest 2022 runs 2 days, all day and all night
The all day and night, two day event will feature live music from both local and nationally touring artists, a 4:20 happy hour, a liquid brunch featuring drag performers, Oktoberfest-themed contests and games including a Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest competition, the traditional stein holding contest, a cornhole tournament, brat eating, and more.
Attendees 21+ can head into the beer garden featuring traditional German brews, local beer, wine and spirits. Ocean Beach’s Veterans Plaza will be home to the family-friendly area organized by the Ocean Beach Mainstreet Association (OMBA) with vendors and a variety of Oktoberfest activities.

How it started
“In the early 2000s, I traveled to Munich for Oktoberfest and had the time of my life participating in the largest, most well known festivals,” said Scott Slaga, the event founder and San Diego local. “While traveling home, flying directly over Del Mar Fairgrounds, I thought ‘San Diego needs an Oktoberfest.’ Over the years, it’s taken on a modern and contemporary twist in terms of music, cocktails and the food offerings.
“While our event isn’t always traditional Bavarian offerings, it’s true to being San Diego’s Wildest Oktoberfest, securing national music acts and making such a significant contribution to nonprofit partners that love OB the way I love OB.”
The inaugural Ocean Beach Oktoberfest was held at Dusty Rhodes Park in 2002, then over to Del Mar before taking over the location it is at now. To date, the event has given back over $750,000 and supports the Ocean Beach Mainstreet Association, The Peninsula Alliance, and Warrior Foundation Freedom Station.

Helping out the Ocean Beach community
Proceeds from OB Oktoberfest will benefit the Ocean Beach MainStreet Association (specifically the Friends of OB Program), an organization dedicated to building a thriving business district that fulfills the needs of the neighboring community and visitors alike, and The Peninsula Alliance, an organization dedicated to creating opportunities and implementing change in our Point Loma and Ocean Beach communities.
According to Slaga and event organizers, the events at this location in Ocean Beach typically bring in 10,000 people. Live music and drinks will be flowing on Friday, 4:20PM to 11PM, and Saturday, 11AM to 11PM. Tickets to attend San Diego’s Wildest Oktoberfest are $10 and can be purchased at the door.
