Grab a Seat and a Stein at the 10th Annual East Village Oktoberfest
For its 10th year, East Village Oktoberfest is going all in on the bier hall. Quartyard and the East Village Association are turning the space into a seated Munich-style hall for one Saturday, with a table for everyone who walks through the gate.
Ten Years in, Quartyard Turns Into a Bier Hall
The seated setup is the whole idea this time around. Everyone gets a bench and a table, so the day runs at bier hall pace: sit down, order another round, stay longer than you planned.
Quartyard and the East Village Association have run this one together for a decade, and this year’s version goes further into the Munich format than any before it.
Märzens, Hefeweizens, and Mexican Lagers on Tap
The tap list is kept tight on purpose. Expect fest lagers, Märzens, Hefeweizens, and Mexican lagers, most of them from San Diego breweries with a few regional pours in the mix.
The full beer menu lands closer to the date and breweries can shift. A few of the higher ABV pours are not eligible for stein fills, so plan your first fill accordingly.
El Comal Brings a Mexican Spin to Munich Classics
Food comes from award-winning El Comal, cooking Munich-style favorites with their own Mexican spin. The full Oktoberfest menu is still to come.
Which is to say the whole thing sits right where San Diego always lands on these traditions. The organizers put it best: “Prost y Salud!”
SaurSam, Officetwin, and a Stein Holding Contest
Daniel Gersztyn of SD Hosted runs the day, which means games, prizes, and a stein holding contest with a full house watching. On the music side, SaurSam and the TableCloth Band play live and Officetwin takes over for a DJ set.
Come in Lederhosen and Get There Early
Tickets run $25 to $30, and the price climbs the closer it gets to the date, with no difference between the tiers. Limited VIP tickets add a discounted stein with your first fill and a faster line at the door.
Seating is first come, first serve, dogs sit this round out, and lederhosen is very much encouraged.
