Annual Balboa Park Pow Wow Returns
San Diego’s longest-running celebration of Native heritage is back in Balboa Park this May—and everyone’s invited. The San Diego American Indian Health Center will host its 37th annual Pow Wow at the corner of Park Blvd. and President’s Way.
This two-day, family-friendly event is free and open to the public, offering a powerful weekend of music, dance, tradition, and cultural pride.

A Celebration of Native Heritage and Community
Pow Wows are sacred gatherings, rooted in spiritual practice and community connection. Throughout the weekend, you’ll experience the sights and sounds of traditional regalia, drumming, bird singing, gourd dancing, and inter-tribal performances by Native singers, dancers, and drummers from across the Southwest.
Saturday’s special honoring will recognize the United States Military, while Sunday’s will celebrate mothers and grandmothers in honor of Mother’s Day.
Congressman Scott Peters will speak at the event on Saturday, highlighting the impact of SDAIHC’s service to San Diego’s Native and underserved communities.

Food, Art, and Cultural Connection
Local vendors will offer a vibrant marketplace of Native artwork, hand-crafted jewelry, textiles, and more. Don’t miss a chance to enjoy delicious fry bread and other Indigenous dishes while browsing the booths and connecting with the community.
This event is more than a cultural showcase—it’s a living expression of resilience, tradition, and healing, powered by a mission to reduce health disparities and support Native communities.
