Celebrate Italian Culture And Support The Home Team At The Padres Italian Heritage Night
Joe DiMaggio, Roy Campanella, Yogi Berra…the list of Italian-Americans that have left their mark on the game of baseball is long and impressive!
The Little Italy Association (LIA), Convivio, and the Italian Cultural Center invite you to celebrate Italian culture and heritage and America’s favorite pastime on May 31st. The three are joining forces to host the “Live the Game. Love the Heritage.” program at the San Diego Padres Italian Heritage Night, when the Padres face off against the Marlins.
This cultural celebration will, of course, be full of Italian culture. The national anthem at the game will be sung by Sal Valentinetti, Italian American vocalist and a 2016 America’s Got Talent contestant, while the first pitch will be thrown by special guests from Team Italy Baseball: Nico Garbella, Giovanni Garbella and Team Italy Softball player, Erika Piancastelli.
In addition, for every ticket sold, $3 will be split and donated to Rady Children’s Hospital President’s Fund that supports any Rady Children’s Hospital department with the highest need at that time; and the Washington Elementary School Foundation, a non-profit that promotes Italian culture education in schools and supports homeless youth.
We definitely won’t miss this day of a cultural celebration, a chance to support our home team, and an opportunity to contribute back to our community!
Come show our team some love and celebrate Italian culture!
We’ll see you there!
