Celebrate Día de los Muertos With Unlimited Tacos at SDMA’s Taco Party

The San Diego Museum of Art is throwing a taco party in its sculpture garden, and honestly, it’s one of the most fun things on the fall calendar.

The Taco Party takes over the stunning May S. Marcy Sculpture Court and Garden as part of Día de los Muertos at SDMA – a full day of community, art, and celebration in the heart of Balboa Park.

Unlimited Tacos From San Diego’s Best

This is the main event. Local restaurants and taco vendors set up stations throughout the sculpture court, and your ticket gets you unlimited tastings across all of them.

The lineup includes Blanco Cocina + Cantina, The Craft Taco, De La Vina Catering, El Indio Mexican Restaurant and Catering, Panama 66, La Puerta, El Rey del Taco Catering, El Torito, Extraordinary Fruits, and more still to be announced. That’s a seriously impressive spread.

Drinks, Coffee, and a Photo Booth

Every ticket includes one complimentary Panama 66 margarita, a beer on tap from Mujeres Brew House, or an agua fresca – your call. Marta is on-site with cold brew, coffee, and matcha, and the Panama 66 bar has additional beverages available throughout the afternoon.

There’s also a themed photo booth and interactive art-making activities led by Museum educators to keep the whole crew engaged.

The Bigger Celebration

The Taco Party is part of Día de los Muertos at SDMA, anchored by a special community ofrenda designed by visiting artist Betsabeé Romero.

Both museums are free and open to the public all day, so arrive early and explore before the party kicks off. The day also marks a milestone: SDMA’s 100th year serving the San Diego community.
