The Secret Society of Adultologists Takes Over the Nat for a Night of Science and Seduction
The San Diego Natural History Museum’s Secret Society of Adultologists is throwing a 21+ after-hours event that leans hard into the theme of love’s darker side.
This pre-Valentine’s bash explores the science of mating rituals, venomous lovers, and heartbreak in the animal kingdom, all wrapped up in a night of live music, tarot readings, and scientific seduction stations.
Whether you’re happily coupled, single, or somewhere in between, this one’s designed to celebrate (or commiserate) the season of affection with humor and curiosity.
Live Music, Tarot, and Caricatures
La Diabla brings live cumbia music to the evening, setting the tone for a night that’s equal parts celebration and scientific inquiry. A tarot card reader will be set up in the research library if you’re curious about what your love life has in store, and Coloring Book Factory will be drawing caricatures throughout the night.
There’s also a DIY Valentine’s or Galentine’s card station if you want to make something for your loved ones, plus a building-wide scavenger hunt to keep things interactive.
Scientific Seduction Stations
The science programming is where things get interesting. Scientists will be stationed throughout the museum to answer questions about sex and mating in wildlife. Ever wondered why jumping spiders dance, how rattlesnakes mate, or whether kissing a frog actually does anything? This is your chance to find out.
The approach is cheeky but grounded in real science, which is exactly the vibe this event is going for.

Food, Drinks, and Last-Minute Gifts
Wolf in the Woods will be serving food on the rooftop, and The Craft Taco will be set up in the Atrium. Craft cocktails, mocktails, beer, and wine are available for purchase on several floors throughout the museum. If you forgot to grab a gift for your significant other, Gold Leaf will have last-minute options available.
The Whaley House is also bringing devices to measure possible paranormal activity, because why not add a little ghost hunting to the mix?

Photo Booth, DJ, and Local Partners
Edroc will be spinning records, and there’s a custom red sequin Pixster photobooth for memorable pictures. Interactive tables featuring local organizations and partners will be scattered throughout the museum, giving you a chance to discover what else is happening in the San Diego community.
See you there!
This is one of those nights where the San Diego Natural History Museum reminds us that learning and fun don’t have to be mutually exclusive, especially when the theme is this entertaining.
