Run the Silver Strand From Coronado to the Sand This Veterans Day Weekend
San Diego has no shortage of Sunday morning runs. Only one of them hands you a Hawaiian shirt, closes an entire highway between the ocean and the bay, and ends with a live band and a beer garden in the sand.

Ocean on Your Right, Bay on Your Left
The half marathon, 10 miler, and 12K all start at Sunset Park in Coronado and run point to point down a closed Silver Strand Boulevard to Silver Strand State Beach. Pacific on one side, San Diego Bay on the other, no traffic anywhere.
It is flat enough that the half marathon fields pacers for every goal from 1:30 to 2:45. Six aid stations cover the half, four cover the 10 miler, and one covers the 5K, with gel waiting at stations four and five for half marathoners. Strollers are welcome as long as you line up farther back.
Pick Your Distance, From a 5K to 13.1
Four distances share one finish line. The 5K starts and ends at Silver Strand State Beach and takes runners as young as three, which makes it the family pick. Everything longer rolls out from Sunset Park, with duo racers and handcycle athletes heading down the road ahead of the main field.
Entry is currently $158.91 for the half marathon or 10 miler, $98.85 for the 12K, and $67.75 for the 5K, fees included, and prices climb on November 7. Enlisted military, veterans, police, fire, and first responders pay $127.81 for the half or the 10 miler with valid ID at packet pickup. There is a virtual option at $81.69 if you can’t get to Coronado.

Taku Drummers, a DJ, and a Beer Garden in the Sand
The course comes with its own soundtrack. The Taku Drummers set up along the route, DJs and live music zones fill in the rest, and the finish line drops you straight onto the sand at Silver Strand State Beach.
That is where the real reward sits: finish line treats, a live band, and a beer garden pouring Modern Times and Ashland Hard Seltzer.
Awards reach past the usual age groups, too. The race runs special divisions for military, duo teams, and Clydesdale and Athena runners, with the top three men and women recognized in each.

A Hawaiian Shirt and a Surfboard That Opens Bottles
Every runner picks either a Hawaiian button-up or a runner dress, and 2026 brings two designs in sizes for men, women, and kids. Finishers take home a surfboard medal that doubles as a bottle opener, complete with a removable keychain lanyard.
There is a Silver Strand water bottle sticker for everyone and an exclusive 13.1 sticker for half marathon finishers. Get to packet pickup early if you want first pick of prints and sizes.
Your Miles Go to Life Sports Foundation
Koz Events produces the race for Life Sports Foundation, which helps people facing physical, situational, or financial barriers get running shoes, adaptive equipment, training, and a place to compete. Team Hoyt and the Islander Sports Foundation share in the support.
You can also build a personal fundraising page during registration. Raise $600 and you may qualify for a refund of your entry fee, up to the cap set for your distance.
See you there!
