San Diego’s Rising Food Stars Are Serving Up Something Special – Come Hungry
Some of the most exciting food coming out of San Diego right now isn’t from a big restaurant group or a celebrity chef. Instead, it’s from everyday entrepreneurs working their way up through Kitchens for Good’s Microenterprise Program. Once a month, they open their doors to the community at the Kitchens for Good SHOP Food Hall.
The Step Into Spring Food Market in Pacific Beach is happening on Sunday, March 15. You want to check it out.

What is the Microenterprise Food Hall?
Kitchens for Good runs a program that gives up-and-coming food entrepreneurs the tools, training, and space to grow their businesses. The Food Hall is where that work becomes real. It’s a chance for these makers and cooks to showcase what they’ve built and get their food in front of new fans.
Think of it as a snapshot of San Diego’s most exciting emerging food scene, all under one roof.
What’s on the Menu
The savory lineup this month is seriously stacked:
- ACO The Butcher is serving Cevapi – a Serbian sausage sandwich that might be the most underrated thing on the menu
- Au Gourmet brings Tacos Arabes, freshly baked sourdough, and housemade salsas
- Holli Wood Slim Mobile Smokehouse comes loaded with ribs, jumbo party wings, and a trio of fry options including sweet potato and zucchini
- Julia Mae’s Kitchen is dishing out Sweet Papa Loca and their fan-favorite Chipotle Wings
- Spoony’s Unique Eats has chicken and beef club sandwiches plus a Chicken Mozzarella that sounds exactly as good as it is
- Soup Slinger rounds it out with Chicken Coconut Curry, Lentil, and Tomato Basil Bisque
- For heat-seekers, Chilumi is bringing three hot sauces – Cuatro Chiles, Dulce Rojo, and Granada – that are well worth taking home
Save Room for Something Sweet
The dessert situation here is not something to sleep on. Golden Tier Cake Co. is rolling in with cake slices, churro cheesecakes, cupcakes, chocolates, and brownies. Crumb & Pop has pops in flavors like OG Choc, Coco, Biscoff Baby, and Oh My Ube.
Peques Sncks is serving funnel cakes, and Vegan Wonderland Confectionery is bringing Basque cheesecakes, caramel, and chocolate toffee. All vegan, all worth trying.
A Reason to Show Up
Beyond the food, there’s something genuinely feel-good about supporting these businesses. These are people who have put in serious work to get here. Every dollar spent goes right back into helping them grow. The event runs rain or shine, so there’s no excuse to skip it.
