Scorpions, Surfing Contests, And Coffee. Just The Way We Like It.

San Diego has plenty of surfing contests, each one more exciting than the next – and this one is no less exciting, for sure.

Well lucky for you, Scorpion Bay Coffee is sponsoring the State Beach Classic Surf Contest on June 4th, at Tamarack Beach in Carlsbad, CA.

You need to come by to try some of this killer coffee (it may just be your new poison) and watch some of surfing’s best names go wave-to-wave.

Yet this event is not just about the coffee nor the surfing – it’s about the amazing cause: carrying on the lasting positive spirit of its inspiration, Banning Capps.

Banning was one of Carlsbad’s favorite sons whose life was cut short by a tragic accident, but his legacy lives on thanks to the community and the spirit of surf.

Over time, this event has become the kickoff to summer season, bringing families and friends together for a day packed with games, prizes, food, giveaways, raffles, and more.

Mini Grom Push in division
Groms: 13 and under
Juniors 17 and under
Mens 18 and over
Masters : 35 and over
GrandMasters: 46 and over
SUP : Open
State Beach Cup: Open

All finalists of the amateur divisions will be given prize packs.

The State Beach Cup will be a pro division where the winner will walk away with $1000. All the entry money from this division will be put back into the surfers prize pool and given to the two finalists.

Event proceeds will be given to the Carlsbad Boys and Girls Club.
