Labor Day Weekend In San Diego: The Big List Of Things To Do
Do you know a city doing Labor Day Weekend bigger than San Diego? We think not!
Everyone is coming to party with us! Rick Ross, The Revivalists, loads of bacon, the world masters of sand, the largest tall ship festival on the West Coast, the legendary Steve Aoki… the list continues!
Safe to say, everyone’s doing it.
And while we seem to be keeping things minimal on the actual holiday itself – you can only be at one place at one time, so good luck choosing between the awesome events on that day (or maybe take the day to rest from the loads of wild events Friday and Saturday)…
Thursday, August 31
Close out August with Uptown Tavern’s 5 Year Anniversary Blowout Party. New owners are in the mix!
Need a chill start before the holiday wildness begins? Take a step into midnight in Paris, at 8 p.m. in Balboa Park!
Friday, September 1
September 1st through September 4th, don’t miss the largest tall ship festival on the West Coast – complete with cruises, pirates and cannon ball battles!
Celebrate the labor of the men who work the hardest: Mad Men! The Pearl Hotel is turning 10 and it’s time to party like you work hard 😉 . A Dress Like Draper Contest, classic cocktails, Mad Men episodes on the screen and more!
Looking for an LDW rage? Armin van Buuren’s got you covered…
So maybe you couldn’t score a baby sitter, but here’s a holiday weekend outing you can take the kids to. Check out Beauty and the Beast (2017) (PG) and The Wizard of Oz (1939) (G) all in outdoor parks.
Watch the Embarcadero fireworks show from the best seats in the house: a two-person kayak floating on the San Diego Bay.
Del Mar wins the award for rocking it the hardest this summer. Head over to the track for a race, a Friday happy hour special, and a side of live concert from The Revivalists!
Saturday, September 2
Head to Julian’s 21st Annual Grape Stomp Festa for the time of your… toes! And taste buds!
Fill Your Labor Day Weekend With Bacon Fest!
San Diego is packed with amazing events this long weekend. How could it possibly get any better? Bacon. That’s how.
Celebrate Labor Day the right way: Hawaiian style at Ballast Point. Delicious food will be involved…
If you can’t wait for the festival of amazing food, culture and entertainment, head to Pacific Islander Festival’s pre-event with the Padres and get this hat for free!
Stevie Wonder is THE. MAN. On Saturday, September 2nd, don’t miss live musical performances in tribute to his name – plus food and drinks!
Still couldn’t catch that baby sitter? San Diego has more outdoor movies in parks for you! Check out The Secret Life of Pets (PG). After you do that, consider Sunday night the party for adults. Read on…
Sunday, September 3
OMG it’s a Christmas miracle! (Ok, Labor Day Weekend miracle…) Tickets are still available to Tacotopia followed by legendary Steve Aoki, September 3rd!
Rick Ross will be bringing his Aston Martin music to San Diego and we think there is no better way to close out LDW!
Check out Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (PG13).
LAST CALL! This perfect summer-long reggae routine is coming to a close. Enjoy the final day of it all on September 3rd.
SeaWorld transforms the park into a sea of glowing color and energy, inspired by the phenomenon of ocean bioluminescence. Woah.
If you’re looking to get into something this weekend, but nothing too crazy, then the San Diego Vintage Flea Market is the perfect in-betweener for you!
Monday, September 4
LDW should be spent with the sand… 300 tons of it, to be exact. Head to one of the biggest festivals in San Diego: the U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge! The fun begins on Friday and continues through Monday.
This one started Friday, but continues through the actual holiday. If you haven’t gotten out to it yet – DO SO NOW! It’s largest tall ship festival on the West Coast – complete with cruises, pirates and cannon ball battles!
Don’t miss the last day of the San Diego’s Zoo’s nighttime experience! Once the sun goes down, things get wild 😉 (there will be millions of bubbles involved, too)!
