University Heights is Throwing a Neighborhood-Wide Garage Sale and Everyone’s Invited
Every year, University Heights turns into one big treasure hunt – and this year is no different. The annual Community-Wide Garage Sale brings together 60-plus homes across the neighborhood for a morning of browsing, bargain hunting, and community connection.
Whether you’re a seasoned garage sale shopper or just looking for a fun Saturday morning outing, this one is worth setting the alarm for.

Make the Most of the Morning
A digital map of all participating homes goes live on the morning of the event – grab it before you head out and plan your route. Sellers can register their home or apartment on the event page to get added to the official map.
No front yard? No problem – limited seller spots are also available at Birney Elementary School’s parking lot for anyone who wants to participate without a traditional setup.
Beyond the Garage Sales
This is where it gets interesting. At Birney Elementary School’s parking lot on Campus Avenue, the University Heights Community Association hosts a hub of additional services and special stops that make the morning even more worthwhile:
- E-Waste Recycling – Free drop-off for electronics through EnviroGreen, accepting everything from TVs and laptops to cables, phones, and small appliances
- Paper Shredding – Available for a small fee per banker’s box
- Clothing and Kitchen Item Donations – Drop off items you didn’t sell or no longer need
- University Heights Garden Club Farmstand – Selling homegrown seedlings, produce, seeds, chicken eggs, and flower bouquets
- University Heights Native Plant Initiative – Selling native plant seeds and seedlings to fundraise for neighborhood beautification
- University Heights Friends of the Library – Selling hundreds of used books and accepting donations
Get on the Map and Start Selling
Registering your address on the event page is free and gets you on the official digital map that shoppers will be following all morning.
If you have leftover items at the end of the sale, swing by the Friends of the Library stop and donate your unsold books – nothing goes to waste in University Heights.
See you there!
