A major milestone

This is a major milestone for the 9-year-old business, giving it the ability to expand its offering, add more than 20 local jobs within the first year of surf operations and significantly increase its annual adventure bookings.

Rooted in adventure, Everyday California has been offering its popular kayak tours and equipment rentals in La Jolla Shores since 2010. The 50-person company also specializes in premium, California-inspired apparel and accessories, sold at its flagship store, online and in select retail locations.

Giving back to the community

By obtaining the surf permit, Everyday California will be breaking into a new market and offering private surf lessons and surf camps close to its existing kayak operation. In addition, the company is looking to partner with various organizations, such as the Urban Surf 4 Kids Academy, to get orphan youth and foster kids out on the water.

Using water sports as a catalyst, the organization teaches kids how to first have fun and then give back to their communities and neighborhoods through local service projects.

“Each year, we work hard to get thousands of people out on the water for the ultimate kayak adventure and to experience our incredible Ecological Reserve and all the marine life,” said Christopher Lynch, co-founder and managing partner at Everyday California.

“We’re stoked to finally have the surf permit so we can expand on what we do best and share the California spirit and our sense of adventure with locals and travelers from around the world. Plus, Brutus (the bear) has been holding that surf board on our logo for quite some time – I’m glad we can finally put it to good use!”

“It’s been a long time coming,” added Michael Samer, co-founder and managing partner at Everyday California. “Not only is us getting this permit fantastic for our business, but it’s also great for the community and anyone visiting San Diego and La Jolla. People will now have options, and that’s an important thing in any market or economy.”
