Explore San Diego’s Historic South Park at the “Fall Walkabout” Festival

What’s a better way to explore a lovely San Diego neighborhood of South Park, famous for its old San Diego charm, than to wandering around the neighborhood’s “Fall Walkabout”?

South Park Walkabout is a fun-filled evening festival where attendees can walk around the neighborhood exploring the independent, local businesses, enjoying live music, and getting a taste of this historic San Diego neighborhood!

The idea of the Walkabout came about 15 years ago, when many of the South Park business owners, while meeting up and listening to their local blues band, the Fremonts, at their local bar, the Whistle Stop, had the idea to attract more customers by coordinating their open house events to be at the same time.

The idea was genius, not only because the Walkabout makes people know their businesses existed, but also because it promotes South Park as a safe, walkable neighborhood.

After its humble beginning 15 years ago, the Walkabout took off. Now the festival attracts more than 2,000 to 3,000 attendees.
