‘For Sanity’ Art Show, Meetup, Open Mic This Week At Sandbox

There is no denying that art is a healing and positive outlet, helping many to maintain a healthy mental state and overall well-being. For Sanity features artists who create not just because they like to, but because they have to for sanity, and welcomes everyone to participate as an observer, spoken word artist, photographer, model, musical performance, or any combination of what the space permits.

This unique event invites individuals of all creeds to enjoy and showcase art while connecting with other creatives and people in the community.

The Venue

Sandbox, is an industrial warehouse located in East Village San Diego, will be the venue for the event. Inside the large, exposed-brick space, artwork will hang on the walls alongside interactive art installations.

Located outside in the back parking lot of the venue, a food truck court with a range of options and additional vendors will be open for guests to enjoy and socialize in. All spaces at the event are welcomed to be photographed and explored.

Meet up (Open photo shoot)

Bring your camera and an outfit you feel good in! Photographers, models, and all guests are invited to utilize the space to take photos and network with one another.

All installations, art, and businesses featured in the space is permissible to be photographed.

The hashtag #DWYLforSanity will be used for all content that is posted so that people can view the work that was created and stay connected with people they worked with.

 

Open Mic

Hosted by Ra Henderson, spoken word artists, musicians, comedians, and performers of all kinds are invited to share their talent on the mic. Sign ups to perform will happen in the venue during the event, and the order will be on a first come first serve basis. Instruments and any other props will need to be provided by the performer.

To Benefit Vista Community Clinic

All profits from For Sanity will be donated to Vista Community Clinic.

Vista Community Clinic has been delivering healthcare to the community since 1972 and is now recognized as a key regional healthcare provider with eight state-of-the-art clinics treating more than 65,000 patients each year. VCC’s vision is a community where every person chooses health, and their mission is to advance community health by providing access to premier services and education for those who need it most.

While VCC is most well known for its physical-health related services, they also offer a range of programs that center around the total wellness of the person. The profits  from For Sanity will be donated to fund these programs. VCC programs cover children through adults, mothers and fathers, LGBTQ, and health related issues that face the community.

Appreciate the art and enjoy the energy each and everyone has to offer, as well as learn about healthy outlets through art and community resources.
