Good Time Design’s Pandemic Pivot Resulted In Six New Venues In One Year

While the last year has been horrible on the hospitality industry in general, San Diego-based hospitality group Good Time Design, founded by industry-veteran Ty Hauter, was fortunate enough to continue its steady expansion throughout San Diego and Nashville.

Since July of 2020, the company has added six new venues to their portfolio, including: The Presley in Liberty Station (July 2020…one of our favorites!), Sonny’s Patio Pub & Refuge in Nashville (Sept. 2020), Cerveza Jack’s in the Gaslamp (Feb. 2021), a 7,500 square-foot expansion of Moonshine Beach in Pacific Beach (April 2021), Coal Town Pizza and Public House in Franklin, TN (April 2021), and the announcement of a a new concept in the former El Jardin space in Liberty Station (opening Aug. 2021).

Having locations in two states has made for a very interesting Covid experience to say the least. And, to top it off, one of their venues in Nashville (Cerveza Jack’s) was damaged in the Christmas Day bombing! They set up a GoFundMe to support their staff who weren’t able to get back to work due to construction delays.

Moonshine Beach

Bringing their honky-tonk experience outdoors in Pacific Beach, Good Time Design unveiled a 7,500-square foot expansion of Moonshine Beach on the adjacent parking lot. The outdoor venue includes a 40-foot long bar, a 600-square foot stage for live music, and two large raised wooden decks.

The Americana theme is carried throughout with a variety of large-scale murals, including a 40-foot American Flag mural, a vintage vacation postcard sharing “Greetings from Moonshine Beach,” and vintage Budweiser and Ford signs throughout.

A menu prepared on an outdoor grill can be enjoyed at the picnic tables located on the astroturf field in the center of the venue. Moonshine Beach is open from 4PM to 10PM Friday, 12PM to 10PM Saturday, and 12PM to 9PM Sunday.

The Deck at Moonshine Flats

The Deck at Moonshine Flats, the open-air extension adjacent to Downtown’s Moonshine Flats, will reopen on April 30th at 4PM. The venue, which has been shuttered since the start of the pandemic, features a smokehouse BBQ menu, including brisket, trip-tip, ribs, pulled pork, and chicken, along with a variety of cocktails, beer, and wine.

The Deck at Moonshine Flats also boasts a huge array of backyard-style games, including corn hole, oversized beer pong, shuffleboard, ping-pong, and pool. The Deck at Moonshine Flats is open Friday from 11AM to 1AM and Saturday from 8PM to 1AM. The Deck will also open on Sundays from 11AM to 8PM when the Padres play at home, to help fans celebrate.

Tennessee

In Tennessee, GTD has added two new concepts to their portfolio, Sonny’s Patio Pub & Refuge and Coal Town Pizza & Public House. A refuge from the current state of the world, Sonny’s is a neighborhood restaurant and bar, serving good mood food, power-packed drinks, and features a variety of bar games.

Located just outside of Nashville in Franklin’s Westhaven Town Center Lake, Coal Town Pizza & Public House serves a variety of pizzas, salads, appetizers, wine, beer and craft cocktails in a wide-open dining space, filled with natural light let in from roll-up garage doors that open up to lake views.

The Group’s additional venues in Tennessee include Cerveza Jack’s, Front St. Tavern, and The George Jones, a 40,000 square-foot, multi-level bar, restaurant and private event space that is home to the official George Jones Museum.

Open for business!

Currently, all of Good Time Design’s San Diego venues have reopened with the exception of Moonshine Flats in East Village, which will reopen as additional Covid restrictions are lifted.

See you there…and congratulations and continued success to the team at Good Time Design!
