Josh Taylor, Realtor: The Aussie Agent Who Sells San Diego Block by Block

Josh Taylor goes by Aussie Josh, and the nickname is your first clue that this is not the standard real estate experience. He grew up in a surf town in Australia, his mum is from San Diego, and he has always seen the two places as sister cities shaped by the same coastline, weather, and lifestyle.

After years lifeguarding the beaches on both sides of the Pacific and a career built on marketing and graphic design, Josh now leads NEIGHBORHOOD at Compass and has closed more than $150 million in San Diego sales.

What He’s Known For

  • More than $150 million in San Diego real estate sales, working with buyers, sellers, relocation clients, and investors across coastal and central San Diego.
  • Team lead of NEIGHBORHOOD at Compass, SDAR 40 Under 40 honoree, and Circle of Excellence recipient.
  • A marketing and graphic design background that shows up in every listing. Josh treats each one like a campaign, not a sign in the yard, with professional photography, sharp positioning, and an audience he built himself across Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
  • Real short-term rental expertise. Josh co-owns and operates The Carmine Collection, a boutique STR portfolio in San Diego, so he advises investors as an owner and operator, not from the sidelines.
  • Deep neighborhood knowledge from Point Loma and La Jolla to North Park, Encinitas, and beyond. His view is that San Diego is not one market. It is a collection of micro-neighborhoods, each with its own buyer pool, value drivers, and rental potential.

Personal Connection

Josh’s roots run between two coastlines. His mum is from San Diego, he grew up surfing in Australia, and he spent several years as a beach lifeguard, including in Solana Beach, before he ever sold a home. That history gave him a ground-level feel for the coast and the communities he now works in every day.

In His Own Words

“I am an Aussie who fell in love with San Diego, but the connection runs deeper than that. My mum is from here, so this city has always been part of my family story. Where you buy matters, and so does how a home is prepared, marketed, and lived in. My job is to help people see the bigger picture, whether they are buying, selling, relocating, or investing.”
