La Mesa Welcomes 2021 With New Barbecue Concept Smokey & The Brisket

We could all use a little comfort food right about now, and La Mesa’s newest addition, Smokey & The Brisket, is ready to ring in the new year with barbecue that is sure to become a favorite in the neighborhood’s growing culinary scene.

Smokey & The Brisket’s seasoned owner and chef is San Diego restaurateur, Alberto Morreale, who is behind such concepts as Farmer’s Table and Farmer’s Bottega. The barbecue concept is Morreale’s second La Mesa eatery.

Locals and visitors can curb cravings as they savor the smokey goodness of barbecue prepared the old-fashioned way, with custom techniques that are revved up with flavor and quality. Next-level slabs of ribs, brisket, pulled pork and chicken specialties are slow-cooked in their on-site smoker, all prepared with top-notch spices and smoking techniques, yielding a crave-worthy flavor experience born of expertise and a dedication to premium cuts of meat.

Flatbread selections bring the same caliber of quality, touting handcrafted dough and innovative toppings that fuse the world of barbecue and Italian cuisine, showcased in their Smoked Meat Lovers,’ and Roasted Veggie Flatbreads.

Guests can start their engines with Smoked Chicken Wings or Brussels Sprouts with bacon and mission figs. For a twist on the greens, their Burnt Carrots & Cauliflower Salad with arugula, goat cheese and cilantro-lime vinaigrette is a win-win.

The restaurant’s lively interior is themed to celebrate a passion for vintage car motorsports. Playful décor includes a 1960’s Dodge A100 van transformed into a bar, a toolbox counter service station, industrial-style garage doors and video game wallpaper adorning the restrooms’ interiors.

To top off the experience, televised motorsports will be heard broadcasting NASCAR, Moto GP, Motocross, and Monster truck events.

Smokey & the Brisket is now open for lunch and dinner Tuesdays through Sundays from 11AM to 9PM, and is housed in a 5,000 square-foot space at 5465 Lake Murray Blvd, La Mesa, CA. 91942. Call for more information at 619-439-6544.

See you there….and stay healthy, San Diego!
