LEGO® Sofi Stadium Model Opens At LEGOLAND® California Resort

Today, LEGOLAND® California Resort officially opened its newest addition of a world record-breaking LEGO® model of SoFi Stadium! Inspired by the NFL’s first indoor-outdoor stadium and home to the Super Bowl LVI Champion Los Angeles Rams, the new model is the first addition to the Park’s Miniland U.S.A. in more than two years. To commemorate the historic event, special guests Aaron Donald, defensive tackle for the Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams, and Los Angeles Rams Cheerleaders joined in the ribbon cutting celebration.

An architectural marvel

“SoFi Stadium is an architectural marvel, and we couldn’t be prouder to both build and present such a massive masterpiece in LEGO form to the Resort’s Miniland U.S.A.,” said President of LEGOLAND California Resort Kurt Stocks.  “Today’s celebration with the Los Angeles Rams, including the celebrated Aaron Donald, was the perfect way to pay tribute to both his team’s championship, while also honoring our amazing model builders.”

During the opening ceremony, the Park presented the eight-time Pro Bowler with a special LEGO mosaic model of Donald’s famous 99 jersey number. The superstar and cheerleaders were also presented with Minilander versions of themselves that they were able to place on the LEGO football field for guests to enjoy. Donald was joined by his family; wife Erica, daughter Jaeda (8), son Aaron Jr. (5), and son Aaric(6-months), who helped him with the honor of cutting the ribbon.

Donald and his family spent the night at LEGOLAND® Hotel and commented during the ceremony about how much his kids loved the bunk beds and theming of their room, but when they saw the LEGO Sofi Stadium model, the Super Bowl champion was beyond impressed, “It’s amazing that they can create something like this out of LEGO,” said Donald.

The largest LEGO stadium in the world!

At more than 30-feet long, 15-feet wide and over 4-feet tall, the new SoFi Stadium is the largest LEGO stadium in the world. It took a team of 25 dedicated Master Model Builders more than 6,000 hours and more than 500,000 LEGO® bricks to build the massive LEGO model. The structure’s most notable feature is the canopy, which features more than 3,500 pounds worth of LEGO. Due to its impressive size, Miniland’s newest model arrived at LEGOLAND California Resort in more than 60 pieces and was assembled on site. More than a dozen members of the LEGOLAND Model Shop team completed the final installation of the model, which took more than four days to assemble.
