San Diego’s Lionfish And Serēa Announce Reopening And Valentine’s Day Specials

San Diego favorites Lionfish Modern Coastal Cuisine and Serēa Coastal Cuisine will be reopening this week! Executive Chef and James Beard Foundation Fresh Catch Leader, Chef JoJo Ruiz, is looking forward to welcoming guests to enjoy his dishes made with local produce, seasonal ingredients, sustainably sourced seafood and meats – on their expansive outdoor patios.


Lionfish | Downtown San Diego

Reopening on February 10th, Lionfish, located at the Pendry San Diego Hotel, honors the essence of the city’s lifestyle with modern coastal cuisine that features fresh-catch cooking and seasonal ingredients, all prepared with innovative twists by Executive chef and James Beard Smart Catch leader JoJo Ruiz.

Lionfish invites guests to enjoy al fresco date night on its spacious outdoor patio overlooking 5th Ave for Valentine’s Day with specials including:

Strawberry Fraisier — White chocolate mousse, farmers market strawberries, lime confit, sea salt meringue ($15)

The Love Boat Raw Platter — Kusshi oyster with strawberry mignonette; King crab with brown butter aioli; Specialty tuna sashimi with crunch chili garlic; Shrimp ceviche verde ($50)

Lionfish will be open Tuesday-Thursday 5PM-10PM and Friday & Saturday 4PM-10PM, reservations can be made on OpenTable.

Serẽa | Coronado

Serēa will be reopening on February 11th for outdoor dining, with unmatched coastal views and fresh, sea salt-scented air. Located at the iconic Hotel Del Coronado, the James Beard Foundation Fresh Catch Leader & Executive Chef JoJo Ruiz crafts seafood dishes with a Mediterranean flair and other specialties complemented by seasonal ingredients from the best of the region’s oceans, farms, and fields.

Celebrate this Valentine’s Day with one of San Diego’s best, romantic views in San Diego, with specialties including:

Chicory Chop Salad – Young chicories, cara cara orange, bruleed humboldt fog, sunchoke chips, walnut vinaigrette ($18)

Pan-Seared Scallops — Fava bean hummus, Spanish chorizo, preserved lemon, salted turnips, saffron oil ($42)

Guava & Pineapple Layered Cake — white chocolate mousse, caramelized tuile ($15)

Serēa will be open for dinner 5pm to 9pm Thursday & Sunday & 5PM to 10PM, Friday & Saturday, reservations can be made on OpenTable.

Reduced capacity…make reservations early!

With safety always top of mind, Lionfish and Serea have proactively set up all necessary protocols according to California state requirements and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to ensure the highest possible levels of safety & service.

The restaurants will operate at a reduced capacity outdoors, with tables set up according to social distancing standards and social distancing markers clearly displayed. Updated protocols also include disposable and digital menus with a QR code to be viewed on diners’ mobile devices.
