Lyft Launching Scooters In San Diego To Increase Our Mobility Options While Focusing On Safety

Improving people’s lives with the world’s best transportation calls for more than just cars – and that’s why today, Lyft is launching dockless electric scooters in San Diego. San Diego is one of the early markets where Lyft is offering scooters – the third in Southern California.

Cost and Operation

Scooters cost $1 to unlock and 10 cents for each minute you ride. You can also reserve one ahead of time. Lyft’s in-house operations team will pick up scooters nightly to charge and perform maintenance. The will also be reallocating the scooters throughout the city each morning.

Lyft is also working with the City of San Diego to distribute scooters near San Diego Trolley systems, beach communities and transportation deserts.

Lyft is guided by four key tenets:

Transportation equity
Safer streets
Transit integration
Environmental sustainability

Through the end of the year, Lyft is also donating $1 for every scooter ride taken to Circulate San Diego and Vision Zero, supporting safety in the community.
