ASA Entertainment announced today that the World Surf League (WSL) Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro will return to the Oceanside Pier in Oceanside, Calif., October 3-4, 2020 where the top female surfers from California will face-off against the best from Hawaii and Florida in a unique team competition.

Watch it live at home!

No fans will be permitted to attend; however, the WSL specialty event will feature both a live webcast on Supergirl Surf Pro, World Surf League and Twitch TV and television coverage so that content-starved surf fans can watch the best American surfers back in the ocean.

The top three ranked surfers on the WSL Leaderboard and six of the top 12 will compete, including #1 ranked and reigning 4-time World Champion, Carissa Moore, Caroline
Marks (#2), Lakey Peterson (#3), Tatiana Weston-Webb (#6), Courtney Conlogue (#7), Sage
Erickson (#12), and more.

“Everyone is so excited about this event,” said 2018 Super Girl Pro champion Moore. “I’ve always been inspired by the message behind Super Girl, and it’s incredible to have a contest
like this that focuses entirely on women’s surfing. I am thrilled to be back in the ocean competing, and the contest format seems really fun.”

The 2020 Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro involves not only a California vs the U.S. team event featuring eight Californians and a combination of eight Hawaiians / Floridians, but also a
second team competition between eight 2-person teams that pairs one Championship Tour surfer with one Qualifying Series surfer per team.

All results from the weekend will accumulate points for both Team CA or Team U.S. and the individual 2-person teams.  Prize money will be awarded to every member of either Team CA or Team U.S. and the top-scoring 2-person team.

“The Super Girl Pro has been a huge part of the landscape of women’s surfing for the past 13 years and it’s incredible that they’ve been able to make the event happen in 2020,” said VP of WSL Tours and Competitions Jessi Miley-Dyer.

“The field of talent competing includes both the best American surfers on the planet and the next generation of stars, and the competition format is really creative.  The question of which state produces best surfers has been talked about in surfing for years, and this contest will help to answer that question in a fun way.”

The event will be webcast live on October 3 and 4 from 8AM-3:30PM, PST.  It will also be broadcast on FOX Sports throughout November and December.

“We are so pleased to be able to run this event during a challenging time for everyone,” said Rick Bratman, CEO of ASA Entertainment, the event’s owner.  “People desperately need positive experiences and this event has such an inspiring message and an incredibly uplifting energy.  We’d like to thank the City of Oceanside, San Diego County, the WSL, the surfers and our incredible sponsors for their patience, commitment and support in making this happen.  We’re really looking forward to watching these female superheroes in the ocean again, and can’t wait to see who gets the Super Girl Pro cape this year!”

Nissan, in conjunction with the California Nissan Dealers, has continued to support the event with the goal to help foster equality and inclusion for women as part of a multi-year commitment as the event’s Title Partner.

“Nissan is proud to be the title sponsor of the Super Girl Surf Pro,” said Shawn Mirabal, regional vice president, Nissan North America. “The message of equality and inclusion
behind the Super Girl Series is more important than ever.  We look forward to the event, and to celebrating female strength and empowerment through action sports in a safe and responsible manner.”

The event is also supported by the U.S. Air Force, Power Crunch, Paul Mitchell, the U.S. Marines, Sun Bum, Zenni and White Claw.

No spectators will be permitted to attend, so fans are encouraged to watch the competition via the live webcasts.  The event will be strictly executed to follow health and safety procedures, which were developed based on guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, and emerging best practices established by other sports leagues and broadcast-only live sports events.  These procedures include strict social distancing measures, temperature checks, masks, and minimal personnel on-site.

For more detailed information and to watch the event’s live webcast on October 3 and 4, visit Supergirl Surf Pro, World Surf League and Twitch TV.
