Road Trip! Head To Oak Glen’s 29th Annual Apple Blossom Country Festival

It’s road trip season! If you’re looking for a new adventure within a couple hours of San Diego, check out beautiful Oak Glen, and consider doing it this month to attend the 29th Annual Oak Glen Apple Blossom Country Festival!

Oak Glen is a picturesque mountain town located nearly mile-high (4,734 feet elevation) between the San Bernardino Mountains and the Little San Bernardino Mountains. It’s considered by many to be one of the most scenic towns in Southern California, certainly if you’re looking for a sense of nostalgia and a slower pace of life.

The primary business of the town is apples, or more specifically, getting tourists like you and I to come to town to enjoy ‘everything apple’! The area was once a major apple exporter, but big farming has pretty much brought an end to that.

But don’t fret, their Annual Oak Glen Apple Blossom Country Festival is still going strong in its 29th year!

The Apple Blossom Country Festival

The festival has a bunch of fun activities throughout their five-mile scenic loop to make the road trip worth it – everything from tractor pulling, pie contests, cider pressing and much more!

Here are some of the many exciting events to expect at the festival:

“Everything Apple” Baking Contest

Contest is open to public and has both Junior and Adult divisions. You can bake from apple pies, turnovers, breads to cakes, cupcakes, cookies or muffins and strudels!

Open to girls 13-18 years old. Cash educational awards await and the honor to represent Oak Glen for one year. Candidates will be competing in such events as speech presentations, cider pressing, tractor driving, decorative table setting, and a vintage fashion show. Sounds like a movie scene from a different era, doesn’t it?!

Treasure Hunt

Runs for two days and with multiple prizes! Participating Oak Glen businesses will be offering free items and dollars off coupons. Visitors who participate in the hunt and turn in their entry forms will be eligible for additional prizes in the Treasure Hunt prize drawing.

There are small fees for some activities but admission to the festival is free!

Time For a Road Trip!

We are fortunate to have a huge diversity of environments that are easily accessed within a couple of hours of San Diego. If you’re looking for scenic ‘mountain town’ environment, Oak Glen should be on your list!

Gather a friend or three, pick some days on the calendar, and do some exploring!

See you there!
