Gaslamp Quarter’s Sultry Speakeasy, Prohibition, Serves Up An Endless Summer With New Cocktails

Prohibition, GBOD Hospitality Group’s popular speakeasy hidden underground at 548 Fifth Ave. in the Gaslamp Quarter, goes against the grain of pumpkin spice in lieu of new cocktails that reflect San Diego’s endless summer climate.

Created by GBOD Hospitality Group beverage director and Prohibition lead bartender, Ryan Andrews, the new hand-crafted cocktails include:

  • Peaches and Crème, made with FEW Breakfast Gin, Giffard Crème de Peche De Vigne, lemon and orgeat.
  • The Band Broke Up, a blend of El Silencio Mezcal, lemon, honey, blackberries and R&D Fire Bitters.
  • Cuban Swizzle, a combination of Rumhaven, Green Chartreuse, lime, demerara and pineapple.

The new drinks are supported by a menu categorized by spirit and more cocktails that highlight the San Diego’s sunny mindset, such as

  • Orange Julias Ceasar, made with You & Yours Sunday Gin, lemon, honey and Magdala egg white.
  • Strrraarrgghhmmy Navy, a combination of Rives Pink Strawberry Gin, lemon, orgeat and R&D house bitters.

To add extra buzz to the evening, Prohibition hosts live music performances by B-Side Players’ Karlos Paez and Friends on Wednesdays, Lightning Room Sessions hosted by Shane Hall on Thursdays, and Sunday Solos Sessions hosted by Shane Hall on Sundays, each beginning at 9PM.

More information about Prohibition is available by calling 619.501.1919 or online here.

See you there, San Diego!
