RakiRaki Commons Brings Award-Winning Japanese Cuisine To Little Italy

San Diego restaurateur and culinary trailblazer in Japanese cuisine, Junya Watanabe, is casting his net wider in America’s Finest City with his latest venture and multi-concept outpost slated to open in Little Italy on December 6th!

Favorites from four of his brands

Inhabiting the space that was formerly Watanabe’s second Yasai location, the new culinary foursome, dubbed “RakiRaki Commons,” will comprise one fluid space that features favorites from four of his beloved San Diego brands. Concepts will include RakiRaki Ramen – a nationally recognized and award-winning ramen spot with two existing locations in Kearny Mesa and Mira Mesa – as well as brand offshoot, JCK or Junya’s Crispy Karaage, known for its namesake specialty, karaage (Japanese fried chicken).

Guests will savor both vegan and non-vegan sushi offerings from The Yasai by RakiRaki – a chef-driven, vegan sushi concept, and from its non-vegan counterpart, Matsuoka – both of which are helmed by esteemed Chef Hajime Matsuoka, whose prowess has enabled him to master his craft with both traditional and plant-based ingredients to suit all discerning palates.

Contemporary flair, rooted in tradition

The space is curated to reflect the style of Watanabe’s collective concepts, exhibiting a honed mix of architectural details such as reclaimed wood, modern zinc-countertops, and oversized Japanese lanterns, which set the tone for a dining experience rooted in tradition, while seamlessly exuding contemporary flair.

Grand opening specials

The December 6th grand opening will include drink specials such as 99-cent Sapporo with food purchases of $10 or more, 50% off your first beer of choice, plus takeout deals including 99-cent Sapporo and $1.99 Harland beers with food purchase, and 50% off any takeout order when you place it directly through the restaurant’s website or over the phone (excludes third-party delivery apps).

Ongoing specials will include 99-cent Sapporo draft beer and sake after 10PM daily with purchase of any food item – the perfect accompaniment to any steamy bowl of ramen or plate of crispy karaage!

RakiRaki Commons is located at 2254 India St, San Diego, CA 92101.

See you there, San Diego!
