Happy Repeal Day! Here’s Where To Celebrate!

On this day in 1933, the ban on booze was lifted and Repeal Day became a national holiday that is second in importance only to Christmas! 🙂

Ok, we may get a bit carried away over here, but any respectable cocktail-lover will be sure to make it out for a good celebratory drink or five to celebrate Repeal Day today!

Sure, it’s on a Tuesday. Do you think that would have stopped them in 1933?!

Here are a few suggestions to put on your agenda for the evening!

Prohibition

A stop at Prohibition tonight just makes sense. Throw an open bar into the mix, and you have no good reason to stay home!

Bootlegger

Enjoy a hosted bar and hors d’oeuvres from 7-8 p.m. along with slashed drink prices all night long. Party goers are also asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation of San Diego or consider making a small monetary donation at the door (no donation required for entry, but participation is greatly appreciated).

Bleu Boheme

Santé to Repeal Day! Bleu Bohème is helping San Diegans celebrate the end of the sober era with a Hemingway-inspired cocktail, Death in the Afternoon, available exclusively on Repeal Day!

Prohibition era author, Ernest Hemingway, claimed to have invented the Death in the Afternoon cocktail. While Hemingway instructed it to be made by adding champagne to a jigger of absinthe until it attained “the proper opalescent milkiness,” Bleu Bohème’s version is made with absinthe, bitters, sugar cube and champagne.
